Tara Cottage is a lovely redwood and cedar octagon on secluded and beautifully landscaped property in Kona coffee country, overlooking Kealakekua Bay and the South Kona coastline. Kealakekua Bay, with its unparalleled fine swimming, snorkeling and kayaking, and the Place of Refuge National Park are both only 10 minutes away. Two lovely sandy beaches are within a 20 minute drive. Tara Cottage is within minutes of restaurants, health food stores, produce markets, shops and theater in the villages of Captain Cook, Kealakekua and Kainaliu. The bustling resort town of Kailua-Kona, with its array of fine options for dining, shopping and entertainment, is 30 minutes drive north.

The cottage features a 300 sq ft octagonal main room with a 15 ft apex and skylight. Furnishings include a comfortable platform queen bed, an armoire, desk and a sitting area with an enclosed cabinet for cable TV/DVD/VCR. There is an excellent stereo system with a CD player, an eclectic selection CDs/DVDs/VHS tapes. Wrap-around extensions of four sides of the octagonal room provide: a well equipped kitchen with a full refrigerator, microwave and halogen cook top and a door to the service porch with Bosch washer and dryer; a dining area with a 9 foot bank of sliding windows framing a stunning view of the Bay and coastline; a large 'water closet'; and an intimate reading/sleeping alcove with a twin bed and windows opening to the garden. One showers outdoors in a dramatic rock grotto within the bromeliad garden, equipped with Grohe fixtures and side jets. Privacy is assured by the landscaping and the surrounding lush Thai bamboo.

On the ocean side of the cottage is a bi-level lanai (deck) with breathtaking views of Kealakekua Bay and the coastline south. The lanai has a table and chairs and two comfortable chaise lounges for outdoor dining and relaxing. The spacious lawn area with its profusion of Hawaiian ti plants and bougainvillea along with the superb views provide a truly park-like setting-- perfect for special occasions and small weddings and commitment/ recommitment ceremonies.

"I sipped Tara Farm coffee while listening to a piano concerto on the owner's excellent audio system…The perfect harmony of the sound of the music, the birds singing outside and the taste of the coffee…resulted in indescribable comfort and elegant time passing by."
