TARA COTTAGE
BIG ISLAND, KEALAKEKUA Here, dear reader, it is so beautiful
that it is difficult to describe, and one wants to share the address with
only the closest of friends. Therefore it comes as no surprise to learn
that Michael Sisk, the owner, originally built and furnished this redwood
and cedar octagonal house for himself. He now lives out of view in a second
cottage on this ten acre parklike property in the agricultural Kona coffee
country, with a dreamlike view of Kealakekua Bay and the shoreline of
South Kona. Michael's dream cottage is for those select people in search
of a special place for complete peace and tranquility.
They may simply rest in the queen size bed below a cathedral-like
high ceiling with a skylight. Or choose to watch videos, listen to music,
or select a book from his excellent library. One may also prepare a meal
in the perfectly appointed kitchen. Or sit on the balcony and gaze at
the stars. A special adventure is the open air shower in a lava rock grotto.
Shielded by bamboo in the easterly direction, the sunrise here provides
for the ideal beginning of each day.
